Thank You Derby Students’ Union
The Takeover is the University of Derby Students’ Union annual social enterprise taster event which provides student groups with a small grant and a stall in Derby’s historic Market Hall to raise funds for charity.
Last year, students raised £300.00 for Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation.
Hoping to build on the success of the previous year, this year’s Takeover took place on Saturday the 5th of March and saw three teams of students compete in this Apprentice-style event to raise vital funds for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance Service.
The event was opened at noon by the Mayor of Derby, Councillor Paul Pegg, alongside longstanding air ambulance volunteer, Keith Murfin who attended the event:
“Many congratulations to the students that were involved today! They are a credit to themselves and the University of Derby”.
In total students raised £511.53 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance Service.
Collette Richardson, fundraising coordinator for the charity, said:
“I’m delighted with the fundraising efforts of the students at the University of Derby. They showed enthusiasm from the word go about raising money for their local air ambulance. The amount raised really will mean we can continue to keep saving lives in the local community.”
