South Yorkshire District Association raise almost £3,000 to support lifesaving children’s charity

South Yorkshire District Association of the Camping and Caravanning Club have raised almost £3,000 to support the lifesaving missions of the Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA).

Every year the South Yorkshire District Association of the Camping and Caravanning Club hold a vote for its members to choose a charity of the year and during 2023 they voted to support the Children’s Air Ambulance.

The members came together to raise the funds by holding raffles and name the teddy games, amongst other fundraising ideas, raising an amazing total of £2,921.69 to support little lives across the UK.

“The members voted to support the Children’s Air Ambulance and I personally voted to support them as sadly my sister passed away when she was only six years old, but had she been alive now they may have been able to help her. The donations from my late mother’s funeral were also sent to support the charity with further vital missions,” said Sandra Price, Secretary for South Yorkshire District Association.

“We are so pleased to have raised such a great amount to support this worthy charity. The amount couldn’t have been raised without the help and support from every member, no matter how big or small,” she added.

The Children’s Air Ambulance is changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children – flying them from local hospitals to specialist paediatric and neonatal treatment centres via the clinically designed helicopters which provide a flying intensive care unit for babies and children.

The charity works alongside 11 NHS Clinical Partner Teams across the UK, including Embrace Yorkshire & Humber Infant & Children’s Transport Service (Embrace), part of Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundations Trust.

Cherry Crane, the Children’s Air Ambulance Assistant said:

“On behalf of the charity I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in the South Yorkshire District Association of the Camping and Caravanning Club and for the amazing funds they raised to support us.”

“Without support just like this from the local community and clubs we wouldn’t be able to continue our lifesaving missions for critically ill babies and children across the UK,” she expressed.
