X Factor winner Sam Bailey tops bill at our Christmas show
The first Christmas concert organised by your local air ambulance is being staged at Leicester Cathedral on 7th December.
We’re hoping to fill the historic venue for an evening of festive songs and music to raise funds to keep lifesaving helicopters flying.
Winner of the tenth series of X Factor in 2013 Sam Bailey will be topping the bill at the ‘Christmas with your local air ambulance’ show.
The former prison officer who worked at Gartree Prison near Market Harborough is now enjoying a very successful career as a solo artist and has just launched a new album to widespread critical acclaim. She will be embarking on a new live tour in 2017 so this is a rare chance to catch her before the tour.
Rutland teenager Katie Marshall – and ambassador for our charity and a rising star in the world of classical music – will also be performing. Still only 15 years old, she has appeared at the O2 Arena and performed on the Downtown Abbey Christmas cd.
Joining them at the cathedral are Leicester’s De Montfort University Gospel Choir who beat 300 other choirs to win the 2016 “University Gospel Choir of the Year” title and are currently appearing on BBC 2’s The Choir with Gareth Malone. They have also appeared on Songs of Praise and reached the final of the programme’s Gospel Choir competition.
The event will be hosted by Jim Davis and Jo Hayward from BBC Radio Leicester.
Tickets for the concert start at just £15 and access to the VIP mulled wine reception costs an additional £10. You can book your tickets here .
