New Carsington Water shop opens
A new local air ambulance charity shop has opened up at Carsington Water in Derbyshire.
Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance has taken over a unit at the visitor centre at the popular Severn Trent reservoir site.
The charity had been looking for a different type of location for a new store – a place away from the High Street but close to a busy local attraction.
The shop is selling second hand books, bric-a-brac, homeware and accessories – along with new goods and branded merchandise.
Amy Valentine, retail manager for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance, said: “We’re delighted to have opened a fantastic new store at such a wonderful location. We’re sure it’s going to be really popular with visitors to the reservoir. It’s something really different. If you love books or antiques this is the shop for you.”
The store is in need of volunteers to help out. Call the shop on 01629 540332.
The new unit is on Big Lane off the B5035 between Ashbourne and Wirksworth.
Joint agents Graham Bancroft, of Derby-based commercial property agents BB&J and Joseph Skinner at Capita acted on behalf of Severn Trent Water in marketing the unit – the first to become vacant at the site for a while.
Commercial Property Surveyor Graham Bancroft said: “BB&J Commercial were delighted to be instructed by Severn Trent on marketing the unit and as we anticipated there was a great deal of interest in the property due to the popular location.
“We were aware of the air ambulance’s requirement for new outlets and it was great that we were able to quickly agree terms on a new letting. Due to both the location off the site and the great work that the Air Ambulance service do in the community, It made them the ideal candidates to take on the unit and we wish them the best of luck in their new property.”
Donations can be made at the shop or collections can be arranged via 01283 537089.
