The Air Ambulance Service celebrates outstanding achievements at Air Ambulances UK 2023 Annual Awards of Excellence

The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) is proud to announce winning the Doctor of the Year category at last night’s Air Ambulances UK Awards of Excellence 2023.

The annual awards, celebrate and recognise the dedicated professionals who tirelessly contribute their specialised lifesaving skills and unwavering commitment to the air ambulance community. The panel of judges deliberated long and hard over some very difficult decisions due to the outstanding quality of the nominations.

The Air Ambulance Service is proud to reveal that Doctor Jake Turner won the Doctor of the Year award – a superb accomplishment given the great nominees within the category.

Doctor Jake Turner won his award category for his outstanding contributions over the past year, which have been pivotal in advancing maxillofacial injury and resuscitative thoracotomy treatments.

Dr Turner’s proactive approach in acquiring cutting-edge surgical equipment, implementing specialised training, and updating policies based on the latest research has significantly raised the bar in medical care.

Commenting on behalf of TAAS, Head of Operations, Philip Bridle said:

“I’d like to say a huge congratulations and thank you to Dr Jake Turner on his thoroughly deserved Doctor of the Year award – his dedication, innovative mindset, and efforts in building strong relationships between TAAS and the Major Trauma Centre highlight his unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare.

“I would also like to congratulate CCP Mark Beasley and Dr Matthew Wyse on being shortlisted for prestigious awards and thank them for their dedication to TAAS over the years.

“A final congratulations to all nominees and air ambulance charities across the UK, it was great to come together to recognise and celebrate those who work tirelessly within the Air Ambulance sector to ensure patients receive the best possible care.”
