Warwickshire based firm’s support for lifesaving air ambulance reaches £40,000

The latest donation of £10,000 to The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) brings the total amount O’Brien Contractors Limited (OBC) has raised for the lifesaving charity to a staggering £40,000.

The Air Ambulance Service operates the local Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) and relies on generous donations as it helps to save lives – 24/7 – at no cost to the NHS. Within minutes WNAA can be at an incident delivering pre-hospital critical care to patients to give them the best chance of survival and recovery.

Since 2017, staff from the Cubbington-based firm have formed an annual fundraising committee – O’Brien Charitable Trust – and set a goal of raising £15,000 to support specific local causes.

The fully supportive directors then match fund the team if the £15,000 target is reached, bringing the total to donate to charities to a generous £30,000.

To date, the charitable trust has collected £120,000 which has been donated to small charities where all funds go directly to a worthy cause, and each year, the air ambulance has benefitted from a £10,000 donation because of this generosity.

“It is with great pride that the O’Brien Charitable Trust is entering our fifth year of supporting the air ambulance, with £40,000 donated to date,” says Peter O’Brien, Managing Director at O’Brien Contractors.

“The air ambulance is intrinsically linked to construction sites where working is often remote and isolated – so reliance on this vital service is important,” he adds.

Because of the pandemic, this past year was more challenging for the OBC team to hold events but, like many others up and down the country, they adapted and found ways to continue fundraising, from Movember and auctions to a ‘Give us a Quid’ Campaign.

TAAS Community Fundraising Executive Lee Bunting added: “Over the past four years, O’Brien Contractors have shown incredible generosity by annually donating £10,000 to our charity.

“With each mission costing £1,700, this incredible amount helps to ensure that we continue to provide our lifesaving service to the local Warwickshire community and further afield.

“The OBC team have been very innovative with their fundraising this year, ensuring they came up with new ways to continue raising money for local charities and good causes. As with all charities, 2020 was a difficult year for us and we are so enthused and delighted with the team at O’Brien Contractors and grateful with their dedication in donating to us each year.”

This year, the team at O’Brien’s are continuing with their efforts with their sights firmly set on achieving £150,000 by the end of 2021.

Aside from their annual events, the team are running two raffles to win some great prizes – an opportunity to drive five Supercars, and to win a holiday to Gallants Quay, Dartmouth -with all proceeds going to charity.
