A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Warwick at 10:05 and were on scene at 10:17. Landing close to the incident, the crew attended the patient before escorting them by land ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Rutland at 12:38 and were on scene at 12:56. The crew provided critical care on scene before transferring the patient by air to Peterborough City Hospital for further treatment.
Working alongside clinical partner team Embrace, the G-CTPZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient and their parent to Scarborough General Hospital in just 21mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 24mins.
Medic54 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Leicester at 04:43 and were on scene at 05:03. The crew attended a patient involved in a head-on collision before escorting them by land ambulance to Queen’s Medical Centre for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Measham at 10:29 and were on scene at 10:38. Landing in a nearby field, the crew assisted with the care of a medically unwell patient before escorting them by land ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Lutterworth at 09:21 and were on scene at 09:26. Following a request from the ambulance service, the crew provided advanced critical care interventions before escorting the patient by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to an assault in Chesterfield at 19:18 and were on scene at 19:37. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Chesterfield at 23:02 and were on scene at 23:33. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required, allowing the patient to be transported to Chesterfield Royal Hospital by the attending ambulance crew.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Coventry at 23:04 and were on scene at 23:15. The crew attended a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest before escorting them by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.
Working alongside clinical partner team NWTS, the G-CTPZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient and their parent to Manchester Children’s Hospital in just 30mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 57mins.
Medic54 were tasked to an incident at a domestic property in Melton Mowbray at 01:54 and were on scene at 02:17. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
