A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Hugglescote at 06:56 and were on scene at 07:15. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Darley Dale at 15:39 and were on scene at 15:57. Following assessment of the situation, the crew were stood down when specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 12:10 and were on scene at 12:25. Using advanced critical care skills, the crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC in Worksop at 16:16 and were on scene at 16:33. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient following a bike incident before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to a trauma incident in East Staffordshire at 19:14 and were on scene at 19:45. Working alongside WMAS, the crew assisted with the treatment of a patient before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Breadsall at 01:04 and were on scene at 01:33. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
The G-CPTZ crew, supported by the NCAA Airdesk team, worked alongside clinical partner team CoMET to transfer a patient and their parent to Carlisle in 1hr 32mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 50mins.
Medic53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 21:38 and were on scene at 22:11. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assessed a patient, Thankfully no significant interventions were needed, and the patient was escorted to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical trauma at 01:53 and were on scene at 02:12. The crew treated a patient, using advanced critical care skills, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 12:04 and were on scene at 12:14. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly four helicopters across the charity.
Our regional service, Your Local Air Ambulance, flies two helicopters. The service responds to emergency callouts across five key counties in central England; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. The helicopters are supported by two Critical Care Cars, allowing the service to operate 24/7.
The National Children’s Air Ambulance flies two helicopters, covering the whole of the UK. The service works in partnership with 11 Clinical Partnership Teams from across the country to transfer critically ill children to the specialist hospitals to receive the care they need.

We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
