A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Nottingham at 13:07 and were on scene at 13:25. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest in Corby at 15:20 and were on scene at 15:38. The crew worked alongside local ambulance service colleagues to provide specialist support at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Coventry at 19:31 and were on scene at 19:48. Following assessment of the situation, the crew were stood down when specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Medic53 were tasked to an incident in Coventry at 18:52 and were on scene at 19:11. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a road traffic collision involving three motorcycles and a van in Northampton at 18:12 and were on scene at 18:31. The crew attended a patient before escorting them by land to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Corby at 03:37 and were on scene at 04:14. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a leisure incident in Rugby at 09:28 and were on scene at 09:40. The crew provided specialist assessment and treatment before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a burns incident in Leicester at 14:51 and were on scene at 15:03. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest in Warwick at 21:55 and were on scene at 22:08. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in East Leake at 06:48 and were on scene at 07:00. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Loughborough at 08:39 and were on scene at 08:51. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting incident in West Northamptonshire at 12:12 and were on scene at 12:27. The crew provided specialist assessment and treatment before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
