A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to an RTC in Leicester at 21:59 and were on scene at 22:12. The crew provided specialist treatment before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Birmingham at 09:53 and were on scene at 10:07. The crew attended a patient following a medical event at the wheel before leaving the patient with the West Midlands Ambulance Service for conveyance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Coventry at 10:34 and were on scene at 10:56. The crew attended the incident before leaving the patient with the ambulance crew for conveyance.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Newark and Sherwood at 16:20 and were on scene at 16:34. The crew attended the incident, provided critical care, and escorted the patient by land to Queen’s Medical Centre.
Helimed53 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Birstall at 16:48 and were on scene at 17:05. The crew attended a patient who had been riding an e-scooter before escorting the patient by land to Queen’s Medical Centre with the West Midlands Ambulance Service crew.
Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Leicester at 22:46 and were on scene at 23:03. The crew attended the incident before escorting the patient by land to Queen’s Medical Centre.
Working alongside clinical partner team SoNAR, the G-CTPZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient to Ormskirk District General Hospital in just 1hr 41mins. The same journey by road would have taken 6hrs 15mins. This was an incubator transfer.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Leicester at 03:09 and were on scene at 03:30. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest, achieved return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), provided critical care, and escorted the patient by land to Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Coventry at 18:59 and were on scene at 19:12. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Solihull at 15:29 and were on scene at 15:44. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest, provided critical care interventions, and transferred the patient by land to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Stratford-upon-Avon at 10:40 and were on scene at 10:54. The crew attended a patient following a medical event at the wheel of a car, provided critical care interventions, and transferred the patient by land to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
