We provide lifesaving care when it matters most.

Because emergencies don’t wait, neither can we. There’s more than one way to make a difference; from a single gift today to long-term support that helps us be there for more people, more often.

Every contribution helps us reach those in need faster.Today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

A bit about us

We hope you’ll never need us. But if you do, we’ll be ready.

When the unthinkable happens, the right care, at the right time, can change everything.

The Air Ambulance Service delivers lifesaving care through two vital services.
The National Children’s Air Ambulance operates across England, Scotland and Wales, providing specialist transfers for critically ill babies and children.
Your Local Air Ambulance brings rapid emergency care to communities across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Our mission is simple:
To help children grow up, adults live longer, and families stay together; because loss through sudden trauma should be rare.

From the ground to the air, day and night, every service under our banner works tirelessly to deliver critical care wherever and whenever it’s needed.

Together, we save more lives.

HOW WE WORK.

Your Local Air Ambulance

Saving lives across five counties.

Because when emergencies strike, seconds can mean everything.

Since 2003, Your Local Air Ambulance has brought lifesaving critical care to communities across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland — through two trusted services:

  • Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA)

  • Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA)

Every day, our specialist doctors, critical care paramedics and pilots respond to around ten emergency missions — delivering advanced care at the scene and getting patients the best possible chance of survival.

From road traffic collisions and cardiac arrests to strokes, serious falls and workplace accidents, we go wherever we’re needed, whatever the call.

Because seconds count.

Every second. Every mission. Every mile.

Because when lives are on the line, there’s no time to wait.

Our helicopters fly at 185mph, carrying the latest lifesaving equipment and crewed by expert critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots; all trained to respond to the most serious emergencies.

But lifesaving care doesn’t stop in the air.
Our Critical Care Cars are a vital part of our fleet, backing up helicopter missions closer to base, responding when weather grounds our aircraft, and operating our night car service, ensuring we’re ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Every mission we fly costs £2,500.
We receive no government or National Lottery funding for our daily missions. Each pound comes from people who believe lives are worth saving.

Together, we save more lives.

National Children’s Air Ambulance

When a child’s life depends on specialist care, distance should never be the barrier.

The National Children’s Air Ambulance is a UK-wide service dedicated to transferring critically ill babies and children between hospitals — bringing expert care closer, fast, when every moment matters.

Our helicopters are flying intensive care units: purpose-built, clinically equipped, and ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

Working in partnership with 11 NHS paediatric retrieval teams across the UK, we combine their specialist expertise with our aircraft to safely transfer young patients to the care they need.

And when a child is too unwell to be moved, we take the care to them, flying the clinical team directly to the bedside.

When a child is critically ill, time is the greatest risk.

Every transfer between hospitals carries danger and the longer a baby or child is in transit, the greater that risk becomes.

Our helicopters dramatically reduce that time, flying around four times faster than a land ambulance. That speed helps limit complications, reduce risk, and give young patients the best possible chance.

Each mission costs around £5,700.
We receive no government or National Lottery funding for these flights, every penny comes from people who believe children deserve the chance to survive.

Your support keeps us flying and gives families something priceless: hope.

Together, we save more lives.

WHEN EVERY SECOND COUNTS, WE’RE THERE.

From country lanes to city stadiums, our crews respond rapidly to the most serious emergencies across the region, bringing expert care directly to the scene.

Road traffic collisions. Cardiac arrests. Strokes. Serious falls and sporting injuries. Whatever the call, our specialist doctors, critical care paramedics and pilots are trained to land where it matters and act fast.

We don’t just arrive quickly, we bring hospital-level expertise and lifesaving treatment with us.

Together, we save more lives.

David Meares
Pilot

My name is David Meares and I joined NCAA in April 2023 as a Captain at the newly opened NCAA North Base in Gamston. Before learning to fly I spent 20 years as a management accountant working for some of the world’s largest IT Companies, but I was always drawn back to my childhood dream of flying helicopters. After a trial lesson, I decided to pursue my dream and gained my first flying job in the Aberdeen flying to the oil rigs in the Northern North Sea, before moving to Humberside in support of offshore windfarms hoisting the engineers onto the turbines. Having worked temporarily for NCAA in 2017, I was delighted to have the opportunity to return to such a worthwhile operation, whilst also being based at my local home airport.

MILESTONES THAT MARK LIVES SAVED

See our Milestones

ON THE GROUND AND IN THE AIR.

Because when an emergency strikes, the right care must arrive — fast.

Your Local Air Ambulance gives people the best possible chance of survival and recovery. Flying at speeds of up to 185mph, our helicopters carry advanced lifesaving equipment and specialist crews, ready for whatever the call demands.

But lifesaving care doesn’t stop in the skies.
Our Critical Care Cars support missions closer to base, respond when flying isn’t safe, and operate our night car service, keeping crews ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Because emergencies don’t keep office hours.

Alongside this, we operate the National Children’s Air Ambulance, a dedicated transfer service for critically ill babies and children. Acting as a flying intensive care unit, it works in partnership with NHS teams across the UK to get young patients to specialist care when time matters most.
