A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Derby at 22:51 and were on scene at 23:19. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting incident in North Northamptonshire at 17:06 and were on scene at 17:26. The crew attended an injured off-road motorcyclist and supported their care and extrication before leaving them with another service.
Working alongside clinical partner team Embrace, the G-NICU crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient and their parent to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1hr 15mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 33mins.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Leicester at 20:17 and were on scene at 20:21. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest.
Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Leicester at 19:22 and were on scene at 19:37. The crew attended and provided care to a patient at the scene.
Medic53 were tasked to an incident in Coventry at 02:24 and were on scene at 02:33. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Melton Mowbray at 12:15 and were on scene at 12:30. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Corby at 07:34 and were on scene at 07:52. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest following a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.
Helimed54 were tasked to an industrial incident in Retford at 09:57 and were on scene at 10:18. The crew provided critical care to a patient in cardiac arrest before transferring them by air to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a road traffic collision in North East Derbyshire at 17:25 and were on scene at 17:44. The crew assisted with the care of two patients following a collision involving motorcycles and a car, providing advanced pain relief before leaving them with the ambulance service for conveyance to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Northampton at 13:52 and were on scene at 14:09. The crew supported the ambulance service and provided critical care interventions before escorting the patient by land to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Birmingham at 11:33 and were on scene at 11:48. The crew supported the West Midlands Ambulance Service with the care of a patient in cardiac arrest.

In total, we fly four helicopters across the charity.
Our regional service, Your Local Air Ambulance, flies two helicopters. The service responds to emergency callouts across five key counties in central England; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. The helicopters are supported by two Critical Care Cars, allowing the service to operate 24/7.
The National Children’s Air Ambulance flies two helicopters, covering the whole of the UK. The service works in partnership with 11 Clinical Partnership Teams from across the country to transfer critically ill children to the specialist hospitals to receive the care they need.

We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
