A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to an RTC in South Oxfordshire at 05:43 and were on scene at 06:28. The crew provided specialist treatment before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Wellingborough at 19:48 and were on scene at 20:06. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Shepshed at 16:35 and were on scene at 16:43. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Rugby at 03:30 and were on scene at 03:58. Following assessment of the situation, the crew were stood down when specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Melton at 03:13 and were on scene at 03:30. The crew worked alongside local ambulance service colleagues to provide specialist support at the scene.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Fillongley at 02:37 and were on scene at 02:55. The crew worked alongside local ambulance service colleagues to provide specialist support at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Northampton at 06:55 and were on scene at 07:20. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to an incident in Hinckley and Bosworth at 10:48 and were on scene at 11:06. Following assessment of the situation, the crew were stood down when specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed53 were tasked to a trauma incident in Frankton at 12:03 and were on scene at 12:17. The crew provided specialist treatment before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a fall incident in Northampton at 04:27 and were on scene at 04:50. The crew attended the incident before escorting the patient by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting incident in Culworth at 12:12 and were on scene at 12:26. The crew provided specialist assessment and treatment before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Stratford-upon-Avon at 15:43 and were on scene at 15:56. The crew provided specialist support before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
