A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Working alongside clinical partner team SoNAR in the South West, the G-NICU crew and NCAA Airdesk team completed an incubator transfer to Truro in just 33mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 44mins.
Medic53 were tasked to a fall incident in Clifton upon Dunsmore at 22:18 and were on scene at 22:38. Working alongside WMAS, the crew treated a patient following a fall before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall incident in Spalding at 19:02 and were on scene at 19:21. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a young child with suspected serious injuries following a fall before transferring the patient towards hospital for further specialist care.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Northampton at 20:10 and were on scene at 20:28. The crew responded to reports of an unwell patient before being stood down at scene when critical care was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Mansfield at 07:12 and were on scene at 07:27. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a critically unwell infant before transferring the patient to hospital by land ambulance with ongoing advanced life support.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in South Derbyshire at 02:01 and were on scene at 02:40. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient following a cardiac arrest before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance after a successful resuscitation.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Great Glen at 17:31 and were on scene at 17:48. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assessed and treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Woodville at 10:30 and were on scene at 10:45. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient following a cardiac arrest, providing advanced critical care interventions before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to a trauma incident in Rutland at 15:26 and were on scene at 15:40. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assessed and treated a patient following an incident involving a horse before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a trauma incident in Coventry at 09:08 and were on scene at 09:16. Working alongside WMAS, the crew treated a patient with serious injuries before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting incident in West Northamptonshire at 14:20 and were on scene at 14:32. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assessed and treated a patient following a fall from a horse before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
