A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Milton Keynes at 09:37 and were on scene at 10:04. The crew assisted with the care and extrication of a patient before leaving them with the ambulance service for conveyance to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Clopton at 18:29 and were on scene at 18:50. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest and assisted with resuscitation efforts at the scene.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical incident in Brandon at 22:27 and were on scene at 22:46. The crew attended and assisted with the care of a patient in cardiac arrest.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Leicester at 19:09 and were on scene at 19:28. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the care of a patient in cardiac arrest before escorting them by land to Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Colsterworth at 20:47. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the care of a patient in cardiac arrest.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest in Boston at 10:49 and were on scene at 11:12. The crew assisted local ambulance service colleagues before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Leicester at 13:36 and were on scene at 13:49. Following assessment of the situation, the crew were stood down when specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Medic53 were tasked to an incident in Coventry at 10:18 and were on scene at 10:55. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Leicester at 21:12 and were on scene at 21:47. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical incident in Roade at 23:04 and were on scene at 23:36. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the care of a patient in cardiac arrest.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical incident in South Derbyshire at 18:22 and were on scene at 18:35. The crew provided critical care to a patient following a cardiac arrest before escorting them by land to Royal Derby Hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC in Stanton-on-the-Wolds at 10:11 and were on scene at 10:18. The crew assisted local ambulance service colleagues before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
