A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Coddington at 10:50 and were on scene at 11:08. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the extrication of a patient before escorting them by land to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Thurmaston at 17:34 and were on scene at 17:40. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Burntwood at 13:41 and were on scene at 14:00. The crew attended a baby in cardiac arrest before escorting the patient by land to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical incident in Ilkeston at 16:18 and were on scene at 16:28. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the assessment and treatment of a patient before escorting them by land to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Derby at 19:41 and were on scene at 19:54. The crew attended and provided care to a patient before escorting them by land to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Daventry at 20:06 and were on scene at 20:18. The crew assisted with the care of a patient experiencing complex seizures before escorting them by land to Northampton General Hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Byfield at 16:21 and were on scene at 16:32. The crew attended a patient following a motorcycle collision before transferring them by air to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical incident in Northampton at 17:18 and were on scene at 17:40. The crew provided advanced critical care to a patient following a cardiac arrest before escorting them by land to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Hinckley and Bosworth at 11:51 and were on scene at 12:10. The crew attended a patient who had been struck by falling metal, assisting with their care and extrication before leaving them with the ambulance service for conveyance to hospital.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident in Redditch at 20:02 and were on scene at 20:12. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical incident in Hinckley at 13:30 and were on scene at 13:59. The crew assessed and provided care to a patient alongside East Midlands Ambulance Service clinicians.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Wigston at 02:13 and were on scene at 02:35. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest before escorting them by land to Glenfield Hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
