A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Newtown Linford at 16:03 and were on scene at 16:15. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support at the scene.
Helimed53 were tasked to an RTC in Coventry at 17:06 and were on scene at 17:12. The crew provided specialist treatment before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to an incident in Warwick at 19:00 and were on scene at 19:12. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Duckmanton at 20:20 and were on scene at 20:40. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Working alongside clinical partner team Embrace, the G-CPTZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient to Hull Royal Infirmary in just 46mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 26mins. This was an Incubator transfer with Nitric.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Buxton at 07:51 and were on scene at 08:16. The crew attended and provided care to a patient at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting incident involving a child in Rothley at 11:33 and were on scene at 11:47. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Measham at 14:43 and were on scene at 15:02. The crew worked alongside local ambulance service colleagues to provide specialist support at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to an incident in Retford at 17:46 and were on scene at 18:03. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency involving a child in Seagrave at 23:50 and were on scene at 23:59. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Loughborough at 02:19 and were on scene at 02:37. The crew attended a patient in cardiac arrest before escorting them by land to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Nottingham at 06:02 and were on scene at 06:17. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the assessment and treatment of a patient experiencing seizures before escorting them by land to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
