Oakfield Farm Ploughs £6,457 into Lifesaving Cause

Oakfield Farm in Stanley Common opened its gates to the public for a special open farm event in June thanks to Andrew and Karen Wint, and Team Oakfield.

More than 2,600 visitors attended the event and enjoyed many attractions, activities and culinary delights, including a bar from Nutbrook Brewery, Jane’s Cider Bar, Helen’s Gin bar, a Hog Roast & Pizza Oven, cake, craft stalls and wood turning, sheep shearing, pony rides, face painting, Birds of Prey, farm tours and live rock bands.

Over the past seven years the annual events at Oakfield Farm have raised a staggering total £64,611 for DLRAA which is truly amazing and the support and generosity of everyone who visits is just incredible.

Community Volunteer Richard Fletcher, who was presented with the latest cheque, said: “I would like to personally thank everyone for their fantastic support to make this event truly amazing.

“We also had some very special guests to help with the weekend and I would also like to thank them; Mark Vallis and the team from Derbyshire Blood Bikes, Adam and the crew at Ilkeston Community Fire Service, East Midlands Wood Recycling for building a Gin Bar, the 16th Ilkeston Scout Group and also all the volunteers who made this event so special. Also, to our Pilot who did the flyover with the crew of HeliMed, which helped really boost the donations and lift the whole day.”

Plans for next year’s event are already taking shape and will be held on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June 2020. Please visit what should be another fantastic weekend of activities for all the family and help raise money for a lifesaving service.
