Northamptonshire locals aiming to raise £10,000 to support lifesaving charity

A group of Northamptonshire locals, part of #TeamKiri, are aiming to raise a total of £10,000 to support the lifesaving missions of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).

#TeamKiri have been raising funds for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance for the past few years after their friend and relative Kiri was involved in an incident that required pre-hospital critical care from the WNAA crew, which helped save her life.

To date #TeamKiri have managed to raise a total of £4,790 through a family fun day and a Halloween event in 2023 and this year have decided to take on a 20-mile walk to help them reach their fundraising goal of £10,000.

On 17 March 2024, a group of friends and relatives of Kiri – Nicola Cole, Steven Holmes, Alicia Holmes, Sophie Holmes, Leah Holmes, Andrea Walker, Leila Leonard, Sydney Hanson and Reece Holmes will be taking on the 20-mile walk and begin in Walgrave, then pass through Holcot, Brixworth, Spratton, Teeton, Ravensthorpe, Long Buckby and will finish in Daventry.

Nicola Cole, cousin of Kiri said: “We are taking part in the 20-mile walk to raise vital funds to support the WNAA after they helped to save my beautiful cousin’s life. We are forever grateful for them getting to her so quickly and getting her the care she so desperately needed.”

“The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance also attended my wonderful friend’s husband, Ashley after he suffered a cardiac arrest at home, but sadly after doing everything they could, he couldn’t be saved.

“We are taking part in this walk to remember Ashley and honour Kiri and we are incredibly proud to raise funds to support the charity and further lifesaving missions. We are so lucky to have this vital service and we never know when we might need them,” Nicola expressed.

Within minutes, WNAA’s critical care crews can be on the ground delivering pre-hospital critical care and giving patients the very best chance of survival – this vital service relies entirely on donations to raise the £2,300 needed for each rescue mission, as the charity receives no government or National Lottery funding.

Community Fundraising Executive for Northamptonshire, Karen Hughes said:

“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in #Team Kiri for raising vital funds to support our charity and it is amazing to see how much they have raised so far.”

“The charity relies on generous donations from wonderful people such as #TeamKiri for our lifesaving missions and without support from the local community and businesses then we wouldn’t be able to continue to provide pre-hospital critical care to those who need it most, like Kiri,” she added.
