Melton Mowbray charity superstore celebrates a year of funding lifesaving missions
Your local air ambulance’s Melton Mowbray superstore is celebrating one year of funding vital missions for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA), by selling high-quality new and pre-loved items.
The Hanger superstore opened its doors on 19th November 2021, with the grand opening attended by the local Mayor, Cllr Peter Faulkner, Lady Mayoress, Mrs Elaine Faulkner, former patient Howard Singer, and air ambulance team members and crew.
Since then, the store has generated an amazing £771,811.97 worth of sales for the charity, funding more than 450 vital missions and continuing to help save lives across the local community and further afield.
The Hanger contains a brilliant variety of new and pre-loved items including, homeware, furniture, clothing, electricals, living, and brand-new white goods, as well as brands such as Frenchic Furniture Paint.
Customers can also take a break from browsing and shopping for bargains to enjoy the delicious array of cakes and hot and cold beverages available in the Landing Pad Café, which has generated a further £118,839.12.
Store Manager Kerry Martin said: “We want to thank the Melton Mowbray community for welcoming us with open arms over the past year. The support we have received has been overwhelming and plays a vital role in helping to keep our service operational and helping to save more lives.”
“Supporters can visit the superstore not only to shop but to also donate items using our in-store donation station. From all the team here, we want to say thank you to everyone for helping this lifesaving service and we would love for you to join us to celebrate our first successful year, and the first of many,” added Kerry.
This Saturday 19th November to celebrate the superstore’s first birthday, prizes and discounts can be found around the store as part of the Big Birthday Hunt.

The charity is celebrating its 15th anniversary of lifesaving service across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland in 2023.
