Leicestershire Car Club raises vital funds to support lifesaving charity

The Castle Donington Car Club have raised vital funds to support the lifesaving missions of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

The Car Club held their monthly meeting at The Community Hub in Castle Donington in August 2023 and the day consisted of a range of activities including a raffle, auction, refreshments and stalls – including the charity’s own stall – as well as a brilliant classic car display.

On the day they managed to raise an amazing £1,208.77 and even a further £183.80 after the event from selling some items of Rolls Royce memorabilia, taking their final total raised to £1,392.57.

“We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the event in August 2023, including two key members of the club, Kevin Bradley and Patrick Thompson-Jones, but the event wouldn’t have happened without everyone’s efforts. A big thank you also goes to everyone for giving so generously on the day to help us raise such a fantastic amount for the lifesaving charity,” said Wayne Tranmer, one of the Event Organisers, Castle Donington Classic Vehicle Owners Club.

“The charity receives no government or National Lottery funding for their lifesaving missions and without support from communities and clubs just like us then they wouldn’t be able to continue their pre-hospital critical care across Leicestershire and further afield,” he added.

Within minutes, DLRAA’s critical care crews can be on the ground delivering pre-hospital emergency care and giving patients the very best chance of survival – this vital service relies entirely on donations to raise the £2,300 needed for each rescue mission.

Julie Gray, Community Fundraising Executive for Leicestershire and Rutland said:

“On behalf of the charity I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Castle Donington Car Club and for the amazing event they held to support our vital charity.”

“We rely solely on generous donations and fundraising events to support our lifesaving missions, so donations just like this keep our helicopters flying and help our crews to save even more lives across Leicestershire and further afield,” she added.
