A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a fall incident in Kettering at 20:09 and were on scene at 20:26. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assessed and treated a patient following a fall before they were transferred to hospital by land ambulance for further care.
Medic54 were tasked to a trauma incident in Leicester at 23:16 and were on scene at 23:34. Working alongside EMAS, the crew provided advanced critical care interventions, including a blood transfusion, before transferring a patient to hospital by land ambulance.
The G-CPTZ crew, supported by the NCAA Airdesk team, worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace to complete an incubator transfer to Hull in just 31mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 54mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Chesterfield at 17:18 and were on scene at 17:37. The crew responded to reports of a cardiac arrest to support EMAS and EMICS colleagues before being stood down at scene.
