Sheffield charity superstore celebrates funding more than 130 lifesaving missions

The Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) ‘The Hanger’ superstore in Sheffield is celebrating funding more than 130 lifesaving missions for critically ill babies and children across the UK.

The charity store opened its doors on 02 March 2023 and is conveniently located in Kilner Retail Park, Wadsley Bridge in Sheffield. In its first year the charity store has generated £468,805.61 incredibly funding more than 130 lifesaving missions – enabling the charity to continue saving young lives across the UK.

The Children’s Air Ambulance is a charity changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children – flying them from one hospital to another for specialist care via the clinically designed helicopters, which provide a flying intensive care unit for babies and children.

The charity works alongside 11 NHS Clinical Partner Teams across the UK, including Embrace Yorkshire & Humber Infant & Children’s Transport Service, part of Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundations Trust.

The store has also received 22,872 bags of donated goods but continues to require support from the local community with further donations of new and preloved items, as these provide vital income for the charity.

Store Manager Peter Banton said: “We would like to thank everyone in the local community for their amazing support over our first year. We receive no government or National Lottery funding for our lifesaving missions and rely solely on support from the local community to keep our helicopters flying.”

“Please continue to donate pre-loved items and shop for a bargain with us to help raise vital funds so we can continue to support critically ill babies and children across the UK,” he added.
