Running into 2019 – My Marathon Journey

I have swapped the Christmas tree for an indoor bike, the wine for water, and the cake for kale… I am becoming marathon ready!nnHi all, my name is Camilla (Cam), I’m 27, and I work as a Press Officer for the Children’s Air Ambulance, part of the Air Ambulance Service. Working for such an incredible charity, I get to be a part of a service that makes such a difference in helping save the lives of critically ill children and babies.nnWhilst writing weekly about our incredible supporters who push themselves to the limit to raise money for us every day, I thought it was about time I joined them and motivated myself to do the same. As someone who is terrified of heights, I decided against a skydive and somehow thought running the London Marathon was a better option…however, I’m not entirely sure I thought that one through!nnNonetheless, I have hit the ground running (pardon the pun) and the first 7 days have been…well…a lesson in my fitness or lack thereof. There appears to be a staggering difference between a casual 5km run and 26 miles, who’d of thought it! I have also jumped on the ‘Dry January’ wagon and cut out alcohol until the big event day on the 28th April; I did attempt to get out on a technicality with a ‘dry’ white wine after reading an article about Camille Herron with her taco and beer running fuel!nnWith training underway, I averaged 25 kilometres of running in the last week but this week I aim to up the ante. I’m starting Tuesday training with an Aunt who just so happens to be a pro at marathon running and she will give me top tips which I will share with you all! As with everyone running the London Marathon, I will need the most support I can get so click the button below to sponsor me and give towards the vital Children’s Air AmbulanceDonateThanks, Cam
