Keith Brown from Desborough, Northampton has made the final of the BBC Radio Northampton Make a Difference Awards for the Volunteer award.
Keith Brown, eighty-one years of age, has been a volunteer with The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) for over a decade and has assisted in raising a phenomenal amount of funds – in excess of £100,000.
Andrew Partridge, Community Fundraising Executive for Northamptonshire nominated Keith back in March and after careful consideration from the BBC team, Keith made it down to the last few finalists.
The team at BBC Radio Northampton were touched by Keith’s story as well as his dedication and commitment to the charity and their missions.
They invited him along to the BBC studio on the false pretense of interviewing him about volunteering during his retirement. It was then that they broke the news that he had been nominated and had amazingly made the final.
Keith and Andy will be attending the awards night on 10 September to find out if Keith has won the award.
“Keith Brown is such an essential part of fundraising activities in Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas. He embodies all the values of the charity, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to demonstrate our appreciation and give back a little by nominating him for this award,” said Andrew Partridge.
“Being part of such a great team, actually helping to save lives, I feel very humbled to have the opportunity to be involved and to do what I do,” said Keith Brown.
