Local solicitors prepare new charity superstore for launch

Dedicated members of the Irwin Mitchell Solicitors Serious Injury Team from both the Sheffield and Leeds offices lent a hand to prepare the new Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) ‘The Hanger’ superstore for opening.

The superstore situated in Kilner Way Retail Park, Sheffield is due to open its doors on Thursday 02 March 2023 – stocking a full range of pre-loved clothing and furniture as well as new goods, from pet supplies and homeware to electricals and white goods at a fraction of the price of other retailers.

Irwin Mitchell offers all employees a two-day social responsibility allowance where they can volunteer to help a charity of their choice. Many of the employees chose to support the Children’s Air Ambulance this year to ensure they can continue their lifesaving missions for critically ill babies and children across the UK.

The Children’s Air Ambulance is changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children – flying them from local hospitals to specialist paediatric and neonatal treatment centres via the clinically designed helicopters which provide a flying intensive care unit for babies and children.

The charity works with 11 NHS retrieval teams across the country, including the Embrace Yorkshire & Humber Infant & Children’s Transport Service (Embrace) part of Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundations Trust.

Irwin Mitchell’s Paediatric Support Coordinator, Carmel Gallagher, said:

“The Children’s Air Ambulance provides a swift and safe way to transfer critically ill babies and children from a local hospital to another hospital where they can receive the specialist care they require.”

“As well as supporting the grand opening of the store, we will be setting up a regular donation point in the office so that the store will always have donations coming through the door to entice in new customers and to raise vital funds for the lifesaving charity. We can’t wait to see the store open very soon,” added Carmel.

After a full day of volunteering the Irwin Mitchell Team didn’t leave empty-handed, with sales of books, bric-a-brac and clothing ringing through the till helping to support the lifesaving charity with further vital donations.

Sharon Evans, Community Fundraising Executive for the charity said:

“We would like to say a massive thank you to the team at Irwin Mitchell who offered their support to prepare the Sheffield store for launch. We wouldn’t be able to continue our vital missions to save the lives of critically ill babies and children without the support of our dedicated volunteers.”

The charity is celebrating its 10th anniversary of providing lifesaving high-speed transfers for critically ill babies and children in 2023. To help the charity mark this momentous milestone and support it so its lifesaving missions can continue, why not visit a charity store and grab a bargain, donate preloved items, host a clothing bank, get involved in a challenge event, fundraise, make a one-off donation, or even sign up to volunteer. Your support will help to keep hope alive for patients and their families.
