Former Children’s Air Ambulance patient turns two

Happy second birthday to former Children’s Air Ambulance patient Scarlet from Hastings who celebrated her special day this week with cake and presents – and a trip to the zoo is planned as soon as lockdown restrictions allow.

“My daughter wouldn’t be here without the amazing work everyone at the charity does,” says her mum Charlotte.

Scarlet was five days old when she was transferred from the local hospital in Hastings to St George’s Hospital, London. She had a severe respiratory infection and was struggling to breathe.

It took just 24 minutes to fly her to get the specialist paediatric care she urgently needed.

Thankfully she made a full recovery and is now thriving. Her mum describes her as “funny and clever, into everything and inquisitive about how things work.”

Scarlet has been at nursery full-time since she was eight months old. She loves slides, climbing, and playing with water and mud.
