A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 04:39 and were on scene at 05:04. Working with other services, the crew assessed two patients before they were transferred to hospital by another land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting trauma involving a child at 13:27 and were on scene at 13:40. The crew treated the patient before airlifting them to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a trauma incident at 02:57 and were on scene at 03:22. The crew treated the patient who had been crushed before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC involving a child at 19:48 and were on scene at 20:05. Working alongside other services, the crew assessed the patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall at 22:59 and were on scene at 23:31. The crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace in the North to transfer a patient and their parent in just 25mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 45mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC involving multiple vehicles at 14:03 and were on scene at 14:26. Working alongside other services, the crew treated two patients, both of whom were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC involving two motorcyclists at 15:52 and were on scene at 16:07. Working alongside other services, the crew treated two patients, both of whom were transferred to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 20:59 and were on scene at 21:09. Working alongside EMAS, the crew used advanced critical care skills to treat a patient whose spontaneous circulation had already been restored, before transferring them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR in the South to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 55mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 26mins.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 00:47 and were on scene at 01:07. Working alongside other services, the crew treated the patient they were conveyed to hospital by EMAS.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 04:36 and were on scene at 04:55. The crew treated the patient, returning their spontaneous circulation, before transferring them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
