A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 15:31 and were on scene at 15:35. The crew treated the patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace in the North to transfer a patient and their parent in just 1hr 4mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 27mins.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 19:18 and were on scene at 19:39. The crew assisted with treatment of a patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an industrial trauma at 21:38 and were on scene at 22:30. The crew assisted other services with treatment of the patient before they were transferred to hospital by EMAS.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 14:01 and were on scene at 14:16. The crew supported EMAS in treating a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR in the South to transfer an incubator patient in just 52mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 46mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 09:40 and were on scene at 10:05. Working alongside EMAS and CEMS, the crew treated a patient before airlifting them to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC involving a pedestrian at 23:03 and were on scene at 23:12. Working alongside WMAS, the crew treated the patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team COMeT in the Midlands to transfer a patient in just 31mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 22mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a trauma incident at 17:02 and were on scene at 17:05. The crew assessed a patient before airlifting them to hospital for further care.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall in Leicester at 20:38 and were on scene at 21:02. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assessed a patient following a fall with medical and trauma complications. The patient was transferred to hospital by land with Your Local Air Ambulance crew assisting.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Darley Dale at 12:49 and were on scene at 13:07. The crew assessed and treated a patient following a cardiac arrest. The patient was transferred to hospital by land with Your Local Air Ambulance crew assisting.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
