A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team SONeT in the South to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 10mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 24mins.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 05:30 and were on scene at 05:45. The crew treated a patient, using emergency anaesthetic, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a fall at 10:51 and were on scene at 11:03. Landing in a nearby park, the crew treated a patient with a head injury before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 02:44 and were on scene at 03:00. The crew resuscitated the patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC involving a child at 15:54 and were on scene at 16:01. The crew treated the patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC involving a child at 18:37 and were on scene at 19:14. The crew treated an injured patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC involving multiple vehicles on the M40 at 19:48 and were on scene at 20:05. The crew treated several patients before transferring one to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC involving a pedestrian at 15:54 and were on scene at 16:01. The crew treated the patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team CoMET in the Midlands to transfer a patient and their parent in just 47mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 36mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 12:27 and were on scene at 12:42. The crew treated the patient before airlifting them to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 14:49 and were on scene at 15:04. The crew supported other service with treatment before the patient was transferred to hospital by EMAS.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR in the South to transfer an incubator patient in just 33mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 9mins.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
