A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 22:55 and were on scene at 23:20. The crew treated a patient who had collapsed before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a fall at 04:47 and were on scene at 05:28. The crew treated a patient who had fallen from height, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 23:51 and were on scene at 00:04. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient, resuscitating them, before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 19:45 and were on scene at 20:13. The crew worked alongside EMAS to treat a patient, using multiple interventions including anaesthetic. The patient was transferred to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 17:58 and were on scene at 18:19. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a fall at 05:31 and were on scene at 05:49. The crew treated a patient who was in cardiac arrest, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 15:35 and were on scene at 15:47. The crew assessed a patient before they were transported to hospital by EMAS.
Helimed54 were tasked to a road traffic collision at 14:16 and were on scene at 14:38. The crew assessed a patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
