A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to a medical incident in Gamston at 22:16 and were on scene at 22:27. The crew supported the treatment of a patient before escorting the patient by land to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical incident in Shipston-on-Stour at 22:56 and were on scene at 23:24. The crew escorted the patient by land to a local hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a road traffic collision in Cotesbach at 06:31 and were on scene at 06:58. The crew attended the scene of a high-speed collision involving one casualty.
Working alongside clinical partner team Embrace, the G-CPTZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient and their parent to Sheffield Children’s Hospital in just 1hr 4mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 17mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to an incident in Derbyshire Dales at 10:49 and were on scene at 11:04. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support at the scene.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Kettering at 09:31 and were on scene at 09:50. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall in Ashbourne at 08:56 and were on scene at 09:16. The crew assisted local ambulance service colleagues before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward transfer to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall in the Staffordshire Moorlands at 15:00 and were on scene at 15:23. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the care of a patient before leaving the patient with another service.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical incident in Grantham at 11:23 and were on scene at 11:36. The crew assisted the East Midlands Ambulance Service with the care of a patient before escorting the patient by land to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a road traffic collision in West Northamptonshire at 22:18 and were on scene at 22:33. The crew attended a multi-vehicle collision involving four HGVs, escorting one patient by land to hospital while another patient was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Birmingham at 00:06 and were on scene at 00:34. The crew worked alongside local ambulance service colleagues to provide specialist support at the scene.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall in Burton upon Trent at 06:09 and were on scene at 06:40. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
