The National Children’s Air Ambulance (NCAA) is opening a new charity shop in Sutton-in-Ashfield on Friday 26 June 2026.
The NCAA flies critically ill children from one hospital to another for specialist care. It is the first and only dedicated paediatric helicopter emergency transfer service in the country, providing a flying intensive care unit for children.
The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on voluntary donations and its network of shops to raise funds needed every month to run the service, with each mission costing an average of £5,700.
Speaking ahead of the opening, NCAA Retail Area Manager Simon Trzopek said: “Because of its perfect location near Mansfield and the Derbyshire border, Sutton-in-Ashfield is the ideal location for the National Children’s Air Ambulance to introduce a new shop that we hope will become a cornerstone of the community.
“For 14 years the National Children’s Air Ambulance has transferred sick children, infants and babies to the hospitals where they can get the specialist care they need. Our charity shops provide a vital link to the public who can contribute to each mission simply by donating their pre-loved items or shopping for their next bargain. There will be a warm welcome for every person through our doors in Sutton-in-Ashfield from the day we open – and we look forward to meeting new friends.”
The new store will open from 10am, with a special appearance from one of the NCAA crew members who carry out its lifesaving missions. The address is 16A Low Street Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire, NG17 1DG.
