he Air Ambulance Service has received a generous donation of 40 roll cages to help support the charity’s growing retail operation.
The practical donation has been made possible thanks to NHS Supply Chain, GXO Logistics, Palletower (GB) Ltd and Rollstore Ltd, whose combined support will help our retail teams move, organise and sort donated stock more safely and efficiently.
The roll cages will support activity at the charity’s new Chesterfield Hub and surrounding retail sites, where donated goods are processed before being prepared for sale in our charity shops. These shops play a vital role in raising funds for The Air Ambulance Service, helping to generate income that supports lifesaving critical care across the communities we serve.
NHS Supply Chain is partnering with Air Ambulances UK this year and, through that relationship, has built a connection with The Air Ambulance Service and our Alfreton branch. When the need for additional roll cages was identified, NHS Supply Chain helped introduce the charity to GXO Logistics at Magna Park in Lutterworth, who were able to support the request.
Behind the scenes, equipment such as roll cages is essential. It helps volunteers and staff move stock through each stage of the retail process, from arrival and sorting to storage and distribution. This not only saves time, but also helps reduce manual handling pressures and keeps busy retail spaces more organised.
Every donated item sold through our charity shops helps fund the charity’s vital work. By strengthening the practical infrastructure that supports our retail teams, this donation will make a lasting difference to the way stock is managed and prepared for sale.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making this donation possible, including NHS Supply Chain, GXO Logistics, Palletower (GB) Ltd and Rollstore Ltd. Special thanks go to Natalie Chadwick for helping get the conversation started, and to all the teams whose generosity will help us continue saving lives.
