Tim's story

Tim was a kind-hearted and deeply caring son, husband, dad, and friend, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of so many people. Through his lifelong love of music and his work within his record shop, Tim met countless individuals who quickly became more than just customers they became friends. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and heard, whether they came in searching for a rare vinyl or simply stopped by for a chat. All those who knew and loved Tim will miss him dearly, and his absence will be felt profoundly across the community he helped build.

Tim’s vinyl record journey began humbly around 18 years ago, starting with just 50 records bought from car boot sales. What began as a small passion soon grew into something much bigger, driven by Tim’s dedication, knowledge, and genuine love for music. As his collection expanded, he took on a small stall at Heanor Antiques Store, a space he very quickly outgrew due to both his growing stock and the increasing number of people drawn to his enthusiasm and expertise.

From there, Tim moved into a small shop of his own, where he spent 18 months continuing to grow his business and reputation. Once again, his success meant he had to relocate, leading him to take a huge and courageous leap to the record shop on Cromford Road, Langley Mill. This move marked a defining chapter in his journey, as the shop would go on to become one of the largest vinyl record stores in the East Midlands. It was here that Tim truly thrived, welcoming a loyal community of customers, collectors, and friends who shared his love of music.

Tim later made his final move in his record-shop adventure to the current shop location. Although his journey was sadly cut short, the legacy he leaves behind is one of passion, kindness, and connection. His record shops were never just places to buy music, they were spaces filled with conversation, laughter, shared memories, and a deep appreciation for the art that Tim loved so dearly.

Tim’s impact will live on through the music he championed, the friendships he formed, and the countless lives he touched along the way. He will be remembered not only for his incredible knowledge of vinyl, but for the kindness, generosity, and love he showed to everyone who walked through his door.

Above all else, Tim was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years, with whom he shared a life full of love, commitment, and cherished memories, and his six children, who were his greatest pride and joy. Tim’s love also extended to his much-loved dogs over the many years, who were very much part of his family and brought him endless happiness and comfort. His family meant everything to him, and his legacy will live on through them, as well as through the love, music, and kindness he shared with everyone around him.
