Derek's story
In memory of Derek Colin McConnell.
Derek was a retired school teacher and a Major in the Royal Signals (TA - Retired).
He was a beloved Husband, a proud Father of three and cherished Grandpa to nine Grandchildren and a dear Brother and Uncle.
He is so loved and will always be missed.
The Air Ambulance charity holds a very special place in our family's hearts, as they saved Derek’s niece’s life eight years ago.
Sadly, when Dad suffered a cardiac arrest in Knowle Park in December 2025, nothing could be done to save him. However, we remain profoundly grateful to everyone who tried to help and to the incredible Air Ambulance teams who work tirelessly to save lives every single day.
In Dad’s memory, we would like to raise as much as possible to support this truly worthy cause. Your generosity will help ensure they can continue their vital work and make a difference for other families in their time of need.
