John's story

Alan was born in Ashby the youngest with two elder sisters. He was educated in Ashby and left school at 16 to go into The Royal Navy for a brief spell, that life didn't suit him so he came into the garage business working as a panel beater and later moving into sales.
Following a job in plant equipment hire he went to work as a HGV driver and that is when he found his niche in training.
Firstly on lorries, coaches and later on JCB's, dumpers, cherry pickers, anything that moved he trained people on it.
Latterly having to give up his training work he became the Church Administrator for St David's Church Coalville.

Alan had been poorly off and on over a few years, his back, eyes and then the devastating diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in July 2017.
Alan passed away on Friday 16th March 2018 in Glenfield Hospital.
There is a point where the oxygen can't get through the fibrosis to pass into the blood stream.
Alan was brave to the end of this horrible disease and more research is needed into medicines that halt the damage.

Alan was a great guitar player first in folk groups and then in our Church music group, he was an active member of various choirs over the years.
Alan enjoyed drinking whisky and visiting distilleries. We went camping, cruising and enjoyed many holidays abroad.
It was the joke to check with the Sankeys first to see if they were available as they are always busy!!
A great family member, friend, colleague and Christian soul.
Rest in Peace......F1SS2ASS.....x
