Gabrielle's story
Gaby died in a tragic horse riding accident, doing something she loved, something she had done so many times before and something that made her so happy. Her loss is unimaginable but she surrounds those who knew and loved her every single day. Seeing her in so many places, thinking of her all the time. An angel from heaven who we were all incredibly blessed to know, who came to us briefly, to touch our souls and warm our hearts. Leaving a hole which will never be filled but also a legacy which will never be forgotten. She brings strength at the hardest of times and lifts your heart when it is most needed.
The loss is unimaginable but Gaby will forever live on in the things we all do with her in our hearts and in our minds. Therefore it is with immense pride and a little fear that we are doing the 3 Peaks 24 Hour Challenge. We are doing this in memory of this beautiful young girl, we are a group of friends, including Gaby’s Mum (Francesca).
Francesca and family are so incredibly strong, with hearts and souls which leave us humbled every single day. Not a day goes by when we don’t think of Gaby, Francesca, Riccardo, Isa and Luca. Seeing what they have gone through and will always go through and trying even slightly to understand their loss is impossible, all you can do is be there.
We wanted to do something in Gaby’s memory as she, like her family, was a brave and courageous girl with so much love and life. She never shied away from anything, grabbing every opportunity with both hands and running at it full force. We feel we need to be the same. We feel we owe it to Gaby to live every moment with such fierceness and strength. With this in mind and with the support of some amazing friends we decided the Three Peaks 24 Hour Challenge would be a fitting tribute to someone who challenged herself daily.
We and doing this challenge in Gaby’s memory but we also wanted to give something back. Gaby was airlifted to hospital after her accident and so we have chosen the Children’s Air Ambulance as our charity for this challenge.
Be like Gaby, live fully, love fiercely.
