Charlie's story
Dad was born and raised in Ashbourne, where he lived most of his life. He spent his working life at Lloyds Bank, where he absolutely loved chatting (a lot) to his customers, mainly about football; the queue filing out the door but Dad without a care in the world. That’s who he was and he wasn’t going to change! Dad was endlessly kind, funny, proud, supportive, generous with his time, loyal and taken far too soon. He filled his life with the things he loved most, the simple things - his family, his friends, “early doors” in the pub, holidays, music, gardening, Ashbourne, and of course Derby County. He taught us so much (some things useful, some not so - unless we find ourselves at an 80s Derby County pub quiz anytime soon) and his spirit will live on through me, Andrew and his future grandchild.
Yes, he was a total pain at times, but we have so much to say about our incredible Dad and we are lucky to have memories and stories to treasure forever. We are so proud to call ourselves his kids and life will not be the same without him.
We chose to ask for donations to the Air Ambulance as a charity close to Dad’s heart. We are overwhelmed with the kindness of Dad’s family and friends.
