Grahame’s Story
After our rapid response helped to save Grahame’s life in 2014, he decided to leave a legacy gift to us to show his appreciation and keep our helicopters flying.
He was very grateful because he realised that he probably would have died if it hadn’t been for the prompt action of the air ambulance crew.

Grahame’s Story
When Oakham man Grahame Hooper collapsed at the wheel of his car and collided with another vehicle in July 2014, Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene of the accident and flew him to hospital for the lifesaving care he needed.
Unbeknown to him at the time, Grahame had a heart problem and the swift action of the crew – who revived him at the scene – meant he was fitted with a pacemaker in an emergency operation and made a complete recovery.
Grahame believed that the air ambulance saved his life that day.
When he passed away in April 2019 Grahame left a legacy of £10,000 to the charity in appreciation of us being there for him in his hour of need.

Grahame’s brother Colin says:
“He was very grateful because he realised that he probably would have died if it hadn’t been for the prompt action of the air ambulance crew.”
“An added bonus was that after Grahame’s accident the family made more effort to spend time together than we had in previous years due to the geography of where we all live.”
“The air ambulance gave Grahame nearly five more years of life and gave us all precious time to spend together and get to know each other again.”
