A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to a fall at 16:29 and were on scene at 16:52. Working alongside other services, the crew treated a patient with a head injury before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC involving a motorbike t at 20:04 and were on scene at 20:14. The patient was in cardiac arrest and receiving CPR from a bystander when the crew landed. Working alongside them, the crew resuscitated the patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 04:42 and were on scene at 05:01. Working alongside EMAS, the crew provided advanced care for an injured patient, before they were taken to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 13:52 and were on scene at 14:12. Landing in a field, the crew worked with other services to treat a patient who was injured falling from a horse. The patient was conveyed to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 18:27 and were on scene at 18:36. Following resuscitation by bystanders, the crew provided critical care interventions to the patient, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Melimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen from a cliff at 16:05 and were on scene at 16:30. Working alongside other services, including mountain rescue, the crew treated the patient before they were taken to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 14:54 and were on scene at 15:05. Landing on a sports track, the crew treated a child who had suffered head and leg injuries, before transporting them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to an RTC involving a motorcycle at 20:18 and were on scene at 20:43. Landing nearby, the crew treated an injured patient, before airlifting them to hospital for further care.
Helimed54 were tasked to and RTC at 12:18 and were on scene at 12:43. The crew treated a patient who had suffered a head injury after falling from a bicycle before airlifting them to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen from height at 08:23 and were on scene at 08:50. Working alongside WMAS, the crew supported in treating the patient before they were taken to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 14:03 and were on scene at 14:25. Landing I a nearby park, the crew treated a patient, returning their spontaneous circulation, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a patient who had suffered burns at 19:50 and were on scene at 20:12. The patient required critical care support and was conveyed to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
