A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 14:18 and were on scene at 14:33. Working alongside other services, the crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 17:21 and were on scene at 17:36. The crew used a pre-hospital anaesthetic to treat the patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 02:23 and were on scene at 02:34. The crew assessed the patient and left them in the care of another service for onward care.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall at 07:46 and were on scene at 08:05. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated an injured patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting trauma involving a child at 15:07 and were on scene at 15:27. The crew worked alongside EMAS to treat a patient who had fallen from a horse before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 07:54 and were on scene at 08:20. The crew treated an injured patient before airlifting them to hospital for further care.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall at 18:18 and were on scene at 18:39. The crew treated a patient with a head injury before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall at 14:46 and were on scene at 15:00. Working alongside other services, the crew assisted with patient care, providing analgesia, before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a fall at 23:52 and were on scene at 00:01. The crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency involving a cardiac arrest at 10:09 and were on scene at 10:17. The crew treated a patient in cardiac arrest, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency involving a cardiac arrest at 20:55 and were on scene at 21:15. The crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall at 08:40 and were on scene at 08:58. The crew assessed a patient who had fallen from a ladder, before they were transported to hospital by EMAS.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
