A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to a fall at 21:45 and were on scene at 22:09. The crew treated an injured patient before transferring them to hospital by land. Treatment was provided while transporting them to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall at 23:25 and were on scene at 23:41. The crew treated a patient using advanced skills and sedation before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 01:08 and were on scene at 01:48. Working alongside EMAS, the crew provided advanced critical care before transferring the patient to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team CoMET in the Midlands to transfer a patient and their parent in just 2hrs 55mins. The same journey by road would have taken 5hrs 21mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency involving a child at 12:11 and were on scene at 12:39. Landing at a school, the crew assisted EMAS with patient care before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 19:10 and were on scene at 19:18. The crew treated a patient following cardiac arrest, returning their spontaneous circulation, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a fall at 14:46 and were on scene at 14:55. The crew assessed and treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 23:31 and were on scene at 00:00. The crew provided advanced critical care for a patient in pulsed ventricular tachycardia before transferring the patient to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 05:38 and were on scene at 06:04. The crew treated a patient who had collapsed before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a fall at 09:09 and were on scene at 09:28. The crew assessed a patient who had fallen from a ladder, before they were transported to hospital by EMAS.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 09:35 and were on scene at 09:48. The crew assessed a patient who was suffering from seizures before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 10:38 and were on scene at 11:05. The crew treated a patient, returning their spontaneous circulation, before transferring them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
