A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 00:48 and were on scene at 01:05. The crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 16:43 and were on scene at 16:53. The crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a burns incident involving children at 18:16 and were on scene at 18:31. The crew assisted EMAS with care for two paediatric patients.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team NWTS in the North to transfer a patient and their parent in just 1hr 11mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 23mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 08:27 and were on scene at 08:49. The crew treated a patient who was suffering from seizures, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall at 08:57 and were on scene at 09:20. The crew provided advanced care including a pre-hospital anaesthetic before airlifting the patient to hospital.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 17:30 and were on scene at 18:00. The crew treated a patient following cardiac arrest, returning their spontaneous circulation, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC on the M40 at 21:00 and were on scene at 21:29. Working alongside other services, the crew assessed a patient before leaving them in the care of SCAS.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall at 03:17 and were on scene at 03:43. The crew assisted EMAS in treating a patient with a head injury before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to an RTC involving a pedestrian at 07:58 and were on scene at 08:19. The crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team WATCh in the South to transfer a clinical team in just 49mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 33mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall at 14:15 and were on scene at 14:33. The crew supported EMAS with treatment before transferring the patient to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
