A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 12:22 and were on scene at 12:46. Landing in a nearby park, the crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a burns incident at 14:26 and were on scene at 14:47. Working with other services, the crew assisted treated an injured child before they were transferred to hospital by EMAS.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team WATCh in the South to transfer a patient and their parent in just 55mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 57mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 08:36 and were on scene at 08:56. The crew treated a patient following before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 19:06 and were on scene at 19:40. The crew supported EMAS with treatment the patient before escorting them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall at 05:01 and were on scene at 05:42. The crew assisted EMAS with treatment before leaving the patient with their team.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC involving a child at 17:50 and were on scene at 18:23. The crew treated a patient following an e‑scooter incident before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 05:52 and were on scene at 06:10. The crew provided advanced care, including a pre-hospital anaesthetic, before transferring the patient to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team NWTS in the North to transfer a patient and their parent in just 1hr 20mins. The same journey by road would have taken 4hrs 38mins.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
