A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 02.00am and were on scene at 02.20am. Patient had been struck by car and was treated before being ground escorted to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 07.35am and were on scene at 07.50am. Patient received shocks with AED and was resuscitated on scene before being ground assisted to hospital.
Helimed54 received a call to a fall at 11.00am and arrived on scene at 11.18am. Patient was given analgesia and flown to hospital.
Medic53 received a call to a medical emergency at 14.40pm and arrived on scene at 14.50pm. Patient collapsed at home and was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed54 received a call at 14.08pm and arrived on scene at 14.16pm. Patient’s treated, one for minor injuries, and handed over to crew.
Helimed54 received a call to a fall at 12.48pm and arrived on scene at 13.12pm. Patient suffered ankle injury and was flown to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 07.30am and were on the scene at 07.46am. Patient was resuscitated on scene and transported to hospital for specialist treatment by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call at 04.12am and were on the scene at 04.26am. Patient was treated and escorted to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 22.56pm and were on the scene at 23.26pm. Car collision with HGV resulted in us providing medical assistance with patients. Critical care was given and patient transferred to hospital.
Helimed53 received a call out to at 11.07am and were on scene at 11.25am. Patient was assessed, treated and flown to specialist centre.
Medic53 received a call to a medical emergency at 23.00pm and arrived on scene at 23.15pm. Patient had seizure and was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 18.34pm and were on the scene at 18.55pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene and handed over to crew.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
