A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 received a call to an RTC between a car and cyclist at 16.13pm and were on scene at 16.32pm. Patient was assisted on scene before being handed over to crew.
Helimed54 received a call to an RTC at 08.38am and arrived on scene at 08.45am. Patient suffered minor injuries and was handed over to land crew.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest of a cyclist at 09.17am and were on scene at 09.31am. Patient was assisted and resuscitated on scene before being ground assisted to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 1.44am and were on scene at 1.53am. Crew assisted with patient extrication from vehicle and provided pain relief before accompanying patient to hospital.
Helimed54 received a call to an RTC at 10.40am and arrived on scene at 10.55am. 3x patients involved 1x patient flown to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a sports incident at 18.10pm and were on scene at 18.26pm. Patient had fallen from horse and was escorted to hospital via land ambulance.
G-TCAA worked alongside Embrace to transfer a patient from Carlisle in 45mins to a specialist treatment centre. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 2 hours.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 22.48pm and were on scene at 22.57pm. 2 patients had been hit by car and were treated before being transferred to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a fall at 20.14pm and were on scene at 20.27pm. Patient was given analgesia and splinting to be transferred to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 22.07pm and were on scene at 22.28pm. Patient was hit by car and suffered multiple injuries. Transferred to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to a collapse at 23.57pm and were on scene at 23.59pm. Patient had collapsed with chest pain and was assessed before being transferred to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 01.32am and were on scene at 1.49am. Patient was resuscitated on scene and ground assisted to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
