A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 20.39pm and arrived on scene at 20.58pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene with our team assisting before being handed over to crew.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 18.09pm and arrived on scene at 18.27pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene and land assisted to hospital for further care.
Helimed54 received a call to an incident at 10.27am and arrived on scene at 10.45am. Patient had fallen into a canal and found in cardiac arrest. Resuscitated on scene achieved before being ground assisted to hospital.
G-TCAA worked alongside Embrace to transfer a patient from Leeds in 1.5hours to a specialist treatment centre. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 3.5 hours.
Medic54 received a call to a suspected cardiac arrest at 1.47am and arrived on scene at 02.06am. Patient suffered heart attack and was land assisted to hospital for further treatment.
G-TCAA worked alongside CATS to transfer a patient from Great Yarmouth in 31mins to a specialist treatment centre. This journey by land ambulance would have taken nearly 2 hours.
Helimed54 received a call to a sports related incident at 13.57pm and arrived on scene at 14.21pm. Patient struck by horse was assessed and treated on scene before being handed over to EMAS and taken to hospital.
Helimed54 received a call to an RTC at 09.33am and arrived on scene at 09.42am. Patient suspected of abdominal injuries and was taken to hospital for further management.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 18.29pm and were on scene at 18.59am. One patient injured and treated with analgesia for chest pain before paramedic EMAS crew took over care.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 8.09am and were on scene at 8.32am. Patient suffered suspected pelvic injury and was escorted to hospital in land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to an industrial incident at 13.40pm and were on scene at 13.42pm. Patient was provided analgesia and transferred to hospital for further treatment.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 20.53pm and were on scene at 21.06pm. Patients were assisted on scene before being handed over to crew for taking to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
