A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 14.45pm and were on scene at 14.58pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene and taken to hospital by land ambulance.
G-TCAA worked alongside STRS to transfer a patient from London in 32 minutes. This journey by land ambulance would have taken almost 2 hours.
Medic54 received a call to an incident at 1.29am and were on scene at 2.00am. Patient was treated and ground assisted to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a seizure at 19.20pm and were on scene at 19.52pm. Crew was requested for support with treatment and patient was ground assisted to hospital.
Medic53 received a call to a medical emergency at 13.56pm and were on scene at 14.07pm. Crew assisted with sedation and airway management before transporting patient to hospital.
Helimed54 received a call to a sports incident at 14.06pm and were on scene at 14.20pm. Patient was thrown from horse and given pain relief for injuries before being flown to hospital for further treatment.
Helimed54 received a call to a fall at 11.42am and were on scene at 12.02pm. Patient had fallen from height and had chest injuries. They were treated and handed over to crew for transport to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to an incident at 18.12pm and were on scene at 18.34pm. Patient was treated on scene and ground assisted to hospital.
Medic53 received a call to an RTC at 17.15pm and arrived on scene at 17.32pm. Pedestrian had been hit by car. Our crew assisted with treatment on scene and conveyed to hospital in land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 20.05pm and were on scene at 20.33pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene by EMAS crew and our team helped with further treatment to safely transport patient to hospital.
Helimed54 received a call to an RTC at 9.06am and arrived on scene at 9.25am. Incident involved 2x patients with 1x being transported to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to a fall at 9.12am and arrived on scene at 9.27am. Patient was treated by our crew and then handed over to East Midlands Ambulance Service.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
