A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic54 were tasked to an RTC in Chesterfield at 21:47 and were on scene at 22:11. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a pedestrian involved in a collision with a motorcycle before transferring them to a Major Trauma Centre by land ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Linton at 17:39 and were on scene at 17:58. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient following a cardiac arrest before transferring them to hospital by air ambulance after a successful resuscitation.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting incident in Tamworth at 13:48 and were on scene at 14:01. Working alongside WMAS, the crew assessed and treated a patient before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward treatment.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Leicester at 05:19 and were on scene at 05:51. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient following reports of a seizure before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
G-CPTZ crew, supported by the NCAA Airdesk team, worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR in the South to transfer an incubator patient in just 45mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 24mins.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall incident in Nottingham at 19:58 and were on scene at 20:19. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient following a fall from height before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC in Hinckley and Bosworth at 20:33 and were on scene at 20:58. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assisted with the treatment of a patient involved in a road traffic collision before they were transferred to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Loughborough at 05:36 and were on scene at 06:01. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient who had become unwell before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed53 were tasked to a trauma incident in Leek Wootton at 17:19 and were on scene at 17:27. Working alongside WMAS, the crew treated a patient with a leg injury before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC in the High Peak at 14:58 and were on scene at 15:24. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient injured near Ladybower Reservoir before transferring them to hospital by air ambulance.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC in West Northamptonshire at 17:23 and were on scene at 17:42. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assisted with the treatment of a patient involved in a serious road traffic collision before they were transferred to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Ilmington at 10:27 and were on scene at 10:45. Working alongside WMAS, the crew treated a patient following a cardiac arrest, providing advanced critical care before transferring them to hospital by land ambulance.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
