A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 12:15 and were on scene at 12:36. Working alongside other services, the crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 15:10 and were on scene at 15:25. Working alongside EMAs, the crew supported in assessing and treating a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 18:18 and were on scene at 18:31. The crew worked alongside WMAS to treat a patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical incident at 21:38 and were on scene at 22:00. The crew assessed and treated a patient before they were transported to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC on the M1 at 22:57 and were on scene at 23:20. The crew treated two patients, one of whom had a serious injury and was transferred to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace in the North to transfer a patient and their parent in just 12mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 37mins.

Medic53 were tasked to a road traffic collision at 17:23 and were on scene at 17:26. Working alongside other services, the crew assessed two patients who were both conveyed to hospital by land.
