A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Hinckley at 13:18 and were on scene at 13:31. The crew provided critical care interventions at the scene.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall incident in Barrow upon Soar at 22:12 and were on scene at 22:24. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Chapel St Leonards at 20:58 and were on scene at 21:29. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Solihull at 19:51 and were on scene at 20:04. The crew attended a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest before escorting them by land ambulance to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Shipston-on-Stour at 17:01 and were on scene at 17:15. The crew attended the incident and provided critical care interventions at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Grantham at 12:41 and were on scene at 12:53. The crew provided critical care interventions at the scene.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Coventry at 05:37 and were on scene at 05:49. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Derby at 11:03 and were on scene at 11:17. The crew provided critical care before escorting the patient by land ambulance to Royal Derby Hospital for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a mission in Northampton at 18:44 and were on scene at 18:58. The crew attended the incident and provided assessment at the scene.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Ingoldmells at 14:12 and were on scene at 14:51. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a trauma incident in Chesterfield at 06:12 and were on scene at 06:38. The crew provided critical care before transferring the patient by air to hospital for further treatment.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Coventry at 01:10 and were on scene at 01:19. Following assessment of the situation, the crew were stood down when specialist critical care support was no longer required.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
