A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a major incident in Bedford at 17:28 and were on scene at 17:51. Working alongside multiple emergency service partners, including other air ambulance teams from across the region, the crew assisted with patient assessment and treatment following the collision involving two trains before transferring one patient by air to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for further care.
Working alongside clinical partner team Embrace, the G-CPTZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient and their parent to Harrogate District Hospital in just 33mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 49mins. This was an Incubator transfer.

Medic53 were tasked to an incident in Wolston at 00:47 and were on scene at 00:58. Working alongside ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support to a patient before they were left in the care of the ambulance service for onward treatment.
Medic54 were tasked to an incident in Ratby at 03:25 and were on scene at 03:45. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to a trauma incident in Melbourne at 09:34 and were on scene at 09:45. The crew provided specialist care at scene before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to a fall in Melton Mowbray at 12:23 and were on scene at 12:37. The crew supported colleagues on scene before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to an incident in North Warwickshire at 17:29 and were on scene at 17:46. Working alongside local ambulance service colleagues, the crew provided specialist support before transferring them by air to hospital for further treatment.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC in Underwood at 20:13 and were on scene at 20:22. The crew provided specialist care before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Medic53 were tasked to a serious road traffic collision near Hill at 23:47 and were on scene at 00:00. Working alongside WMAS, MERIT and Midlands Air Ambulance colleagues, the crew provided specialist treatment to a patient with serious injuries before escorting them to hospital by land ambulance for further care.
