A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to a trauma incident in Leicester at 10:51 and were on scene at 11:06. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Southwell at 07:19 and were on scene at 07:40. The crew attended a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Helimed54 were tasked to an assault in Ilkeston at 18:33 and were on scene at 18:52. The crew assisted the ambulance service with the care of the patient before escorting them by land ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Stratford-upon-Avon at 13:33 and were on scene at 13:49. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required, and the patient was left in the care of the ambulance service.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Nottingham at 07:13 and were on scene at 07:28. Landing in a nearby park, the crew assisted the ambulance service with the care of the patient.
Working alongside clinical partner team SoNAR, the G-CTPZ crew and NCAA Airdesk team transferred a patient and their parent to Birmingham Children’s Hospital in just 56mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 18mins. This was an incubator transfer.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in North Northamptonshire at 16:20 and were on scene at 16:40. The crew assisted with the care of a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest and provided critical care interventions at the scene.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency in Birmingham at 17:30 and were on scene at 17:39. The crew assisted with the care of a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest and provided critical care interventions at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to an industrial incident in Charnwood at 18:58 and were on scene at 19:07. Landing in a nearby field, the crew provided critical care at the scene.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting and leisure trauma incident in Rutland at 20:15 and were on scene at 20:31. Landing next to the patient, the crew provided specialist care before the patient was left in the care of the ambulance service.
Medic54 were tasked to a fall incident in Barrow upon Soar at 22:12 and were on scene at 22:24. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency in Chapel St Leonards at 20:58 and were on scene at 21:29. Following assessment of the situation, specialist critical care support was no longer required.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
