A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team ECMO in the North to transfer an incubator patient in just 44mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 59mins.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 12:05 and were on scene at 12:12. The crew treated a patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 13:05 and were on scene 13:18. Landing in a nearby field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat a patient before airlifting them to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 21:07 and were on scene at 21:40. Working alongside multiple other services, the crew treated an injured patient using advanced critical care, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 09:42 and were on scene at 09:54. Landing in a field, the crew worked alongside multiple other services to treat the injured patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 09:03 and were on scene at 09:36. Landing in a field, the crew assisted Yorkshire Ambulance Service providing advanced critical care, before transporting them to hospital by land.
G-NICU worked alongside clinical partner team WATCh to transfer a patient in just 55mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 47mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 08:59 and were on scene at 09:14. Landing in a school, the crew assisted EMAS to provide advanced critical care, transporting them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked a patient who had fallen at 13:28 and were on scene at 13:46. Landing in a field, the crew assisted EMAS to treat a patient with a leg injury, before airlifting them to hospital for ongoing care.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 19:40 and were on scene at 20:03. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital for ongoing care.
G-NICU worked alongside clinical partner team KIDS to transfer a patient and their parent in just 1hr 5mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 19mins.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 05:57 and were on scene at 06:23. Working along multiple other services, the crew treated an injured patient who was transferred to hospital by EMAS.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
